Job Information:
Glitch Productions is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to oversee the company’s growing RnD department and its 3D animation pipeline.
In this role, you will be working closely with the head of production and technical artists that work within Maya and Unreal Engine to ideate, plan, and execute efficient pipeline workflows for the creation of 3D animation in and around a real-time rendering environment.
You will be leading and managing a team 4-6 technical artists/engineers and deciding on their priorities and the careful implementation + roll out strategy of RnD projects.
You will also be responsible for assisting the entire production team with a variety of technical issues that may arise during production.

Your duties will include:​

Ideate, plan and execute 3D animation pipeline workflows, tools, improvements and optimisations inside of and between Maya and Unreal Engine.

Ideate, plan and execute pipeline improvements between Maya/Unreal Engine and external production management software such as Asana, Syncsketch or Shotgrid.

Lead and manage a team of technical artists across different technical disciplines to execute technical goals.

Carefully design and roll out new tech updates to a team of over 50 artists and staff personnel.

Run RnD meetings.

Discuss pain points with 3D production teams and parse that through to the RnD team to turn into tangible tasks, projects and priorities.

Debug and assist with any technical issues within the RnD department and across other 3D departments such as animation, rigging, rendering etc.

Research into new solutions and workflows that can be implemented into our pipeline.

The ideal candidate will have:

Expert knowledge of Maya and Unreal engine and the use of USDs within both.

Experience in designing and architecting technical efforts for 3D production.

Experience in effectively and seamlessly rolling out technical updates and projects without disrupting production.

Expert knowledge in python and C++ or other relevant programming languages

Strong leadership and management skills.

Experience with managing a team and orchestrating large RnD projects

Excellent documentation and organization skills.

A strong vision for proposed pipelines and the knowledge to achieve it.

The initiative and passion to constantly research into new solutions for pipelines and workflows.

Full 3D rigging, animation and rendering production pipeline knowledge.

Additional skills (optional):

Experience with creating tools for 3D software such as blender.

Experience with creating tools or plugins for production management software such as Asana, Jira or Shotgrid.
